Telltale Games and Gearbox will preview Tales From the Borderlands at the SXSW festival and show fans what to expect from the spinoff of the popular Borderlands series.

Gamespot reports that on March 8 members from both developers will be on hand at the massive expo to give fans a first look at how the collaborative game will play out and what sort of story the game will follow. Gearbox president Randy Pitchford, Borderlands 2 writer Anthony Burch, Borderlands franchise director Matthew Armstrong, Telltale president Kevin Bruner, and designer Harrison Pink will show off the first concrete details of Tales From the Borderlands since the first announcement trailer was released for the game.

Known for its award winning work with The Walking Dead video game among others, Telltale Games specializes in episodic games that give players one chapter at a time to play through. The series is known for creating tremendous dialogue between players and for allowing users to choose what sort of person they want their character to be.

This may clash with the Borderlands series, which is known for giving players huge amounts of weapons to play around with as they take their customized character through the game with minimal storylines to follow. However, there is plenty of mythology to explore in the Borderlands series for Telltale to dive into, and if any developer besides Gearbox is capable of fleshing out the world of Pandora, it's Telltale.

Besides Tales From the Borderlands, Telltale has many other games in the works. Currently the company is putting out episodes for season two of their flagship The Walking Dead and episodes of The Wolf Among Us based on the Fables comic books. When Tales From the Borderlands was announced Telltale also revealed that they will be creating a game based on the "Game of Thrones" books and TV show. Both the "Game of Thrones" game and Tales From the Borderlands are expected to start in 2014.

Tales From the Borderlands' trailer was rather light on details, so those curious about the game should look out for the panel planned for SXSW on March 8 to see what sort of story the game will follow. Perhaps we will see some special cameos during the presentation and find out if the game may give hints for what Borderlands 3 will be like.
