The specs for the upcoming game Thief have been revealed. Following a growing pattern, the game will look best on the PlayStation 4 as opposed to the Xbox One.

According to developer Square Enix, the reboot of the legendary stealth series will be capable of 1080p resolution on the PlayStation 4, while the Xbox One version of the game maxes out at 900p, Eurogamer reported. This puts the Xbox One version of Thief on par with Ryse: Son of Rome, which is considered one of the best looking Xbox One games currently available. Both versions of the game will run at 30 frames per second.

Some fans of the series may be angry that the game will not be available in 1080p on the Xbox One, but game director Nicolas Cantin assured Xbox One owners that it's highly unlikely users will be able see the graphics aren't 1080p. "You really need good eyes to see the difference," he said, adding that the version being put on to the Microsoft console "is as good as the PS4 version."

When pressed about the resolution issue, Cantin insisted that the Xbox One's lesser resolution "doesn't make much of a difference."

"...As developers, no. As engineers, yeah. The engineers, for sure. But for us, as creative director or art director or level designer, we gave the same data. After that it's a more technological aspect of the game. The engineers have to manage that," he added.

What really matters to Cantin—and most likely, what matters to the majority of gamers—is the differences in the current generation versions in comparison to the games released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. With the huge gap in specs between the two generations of consoles, the game director was quick to point out that the next-gen versions of Thief offer a more detailed take on the same game.

"The immersion is more [on next-gen]," Cantin said. "We put more detail in, more special effects. But at the same time, we kept the same gameplay experience with the current-gen and the next-gen versions."

Thief is due out on Feb. 25. Thief will have several modifiers that will make the game similar to classic Thief games. The game will challenge all players to make their way through the game despite being unable to simply kill guards or peer through walls like many games.
