Cristiano Ronaldo is arguably the world's most expensive soccer player. Many would expect his point production to match his enormous payday. However, his performance as of late has not been indicative of a three-time Ballon d'Or winner.

As indicated on the stat sheet from Ronaldo7, the Portuguese striker found the back of the net 48 times in 35 La Liga appearances the previous year. This season, he has only tallied 16 goals in 21 league matches thus far. Of those 21 outings, Ronaldo has failed to score in 12 of them.

Sky Sports noted that Ronaldo seems to be aware of his current drought and his frustrations are beginning to show. During Real Madrid's 1-1 draw at Real Betis last Sunday, Ronaldo was seen intentionally tripping Betis right back Francisco Molinero following a collision between the two.

"He has done it at least three times this season and it is a sign of frustration. He knows he can do better," said La Liga analyst Guillem Balague. "His mind has been dispersed, he has been on trips to Morocco which the club have asked him to cut short because they want him to focus."

About a week ago, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez had an urgent meeting with Ronaldo to talk about his lackluster play and frivolous North African trips. The Portuguese forward was said to be banned from taking frequent flights to Morocco.

According to El Espanol, via Sports-English, Ronaldo had a knack for fleeing to Morocco, after morning practices, to hang out with Moroccan-Dutch kickboxer Badr Hari. The 30-year old multi-millionaire would then fly back to Spain in the evening.

Unbeknownst to Ronaldo, he isn't the only one with a high-profile friend residing in the country. Florentino Perez has reportedly requested Moroccan king Mohamed VI to inform him whenever the Portuguese forward is in his turf.

Real Madrid's 1-1 draw at Real Betis last Sunday marked the second time Ronaldo has failed to score against the Beticos this season. Other teams he had offensive problems with include Sporting Gijon, Granada, Athletic Bilbao, Malaga, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla, Barcelona, Villarreal, Valencia and Deportivo, per Soccer Base.

"Ronaldo has such a high standard that when he has his lowest ratio of shots to goals of his career at Real Madrid we are surprised," said Balague. "If he had been as effective as he used to be, Real Madrid would have more points."

The soccer analyst added that Ronaldo is still scoring emphatically, but his production has been sporadic throughout his 21 La Liga appearances this season. Real Madrid needs their star player to score more, or at least contribute more consistently.
