Manchester United believes they have the best system that can fully make use of James Rodriguez's true potential. Based upon the Colombian winger's dreary performance for the Los Blancos, the Old Trafford club could be perfectly on point.

In order to put their notion to the test, the Red Devils still need to sign Rodriquez. The latest rumors suggest that this is close to becoming a reality, as Louis van Gaal is allegedly preparing a $93 million bid for the 24-year old sensation, as per Fichajes via Metro.

From the moment Rodriguez inked a deal with Real Madrid in July 2014, he has consistently struggled to find his niche in Rafa Benitez's system. Although he has showed flashes of brilliance from time to time, these moments have not been enough to predicate a more important role in the team's diagrams.

Fast forward to 2016, Real Madrid is now under new manager Zinedine Zidane. But Rodriguez's problems remain the same. Zidane's new schemes have not been friendly to the 2014 FIFA Golden Boot recipient.

While he is good enough to play 180 minutes on another team, Rodriquez has only played 54 minutes in the Frenchman's first two games as Real Madrid's head honcho. To add insult to injury, Sport's Alejandro Alcazar said Zidane has developed distaste for the young midfielder's attitude.

The former French international wanted to give every player an equal shot at earning a starting position. As fate would have it, Rodriguez and Isco were the ones vying for the same spot. After almost two weeks of observing both players, Zidane decided to complete his starting midfield line-up with Isco.

He felt Rodriquez was beyond his ideal weight. The Colombian also did not show enough commitment during training sessions. Zidane still left the door open for Rodriguez to start for the team, given that the winger strictly adhered to the dietary regimen the new manager has mandated.

A new management or a change of scenery could be the only things hindering Rodriguez from achieving superstar status. Real Madrid could be forced to negotiate if Rodriguez continues to show disinterest in developing with the team.

Meanwhile, at Old Trafford, Rodriguez will be forced to reinvigorate Louis van Gaal's mechanical offensive philosophy. Whether the sudden limelight would be a boon or a bane for the young midfielder's career still remains to be seen.

That being said, Manchester United's bid will undoubtedly fail, unless Real Madrid figures out a way to lift the two-window transfer ban imposed on them by FIFA. The Los Blancos are unable to sign players this summer or winter, since the team has violated rules regarding recruiting Under-18 players, per Daily Mirror.
