The servers of action role-playing video game, "Bloodborne," are down due to an emergency maintenance.

Gamespot reported that Sony Japan has said that the game's online modes will be unavailable for a number days but the offline mode is still playable.

"We are currently conducting emergency maintenance on the game servers. The maintenance should be complete within a few days. We will update you again once the maintenance ends," Sony was quoted by Gamespot as saying.

Although other details have not been revealed, Kotaku said that the problem could have been due to an exploit that gives players the right to unlock recently released DLC, The Old Hunters, which is worth $20, for no extra charge.

In a Reddit post, lead hosting engineer, Tim Wernicke, mentioned that the exploit issues have already been identified, prompting Sony to take down their servers.

"We've received some really important feedback about an exploit and serious issues that exist in the game. The game is currently undergoing emergency maintenance, and we're working non-stop to get some things patched and back online. So a huge thank-you to everyone here for the feedback, and please be patient while we work to get things restored," added Wernicke.

He also extended his apologies for not being specific with the issues.

According to TV Newsroom, while servers are down, players would have to check the world of Yharnam without multiplayer elements. This would reportedly require assistance in their quests.

"Hunting beasts just got lonelier. No mention of when servers were going back online, or what exactly made this situation an emergency," added the same report.

In addition, GameRant said that there are also solid guides for players who need help. It claimed that they can use the beast mode and "take The Old Hunters by storm as a grizzled and feral monster."

For those looking for fresh gear, they can try to follow the trail on how to get the Holy Moonlight Sword.

GameRant said that despite these temporary solutions, gamers are still hoping that the game's servers will be back online soon.

"Bloodborne" and its newly released DLC are exclusively available for PS4 players.

When it was launched this April, the game sold more than one million units worldwide, barely two weeks after it was launched for PS4.

Gematsu said that the computed unit sale was as of April 5 as Sony announced. It added that the number of units included "both Blu-ray disc sell-through quantities and download version sales on the PlayStation Store."
