The suspension of Missouri Tigers quarterback Maty Mauk has been declared indefinite by his team on Monday.

ESPN said Mauk earlier missed his team's victory versus South Carolina and he will miss more games after Missouri decided on his indefinite suspension.

"I don't ever talk about disciplinary issues ever. That's something they trust in me and I trust in them," coach Gary Pinkel said providing no definite explanation on the decision.

He also mentioned in The Kansas City Star report that Mauk's name will be in the list of players when he is brought back.

"I just said a moment ago, his name will be on that sheet there on the Monday that he's back," the coach said, responding to queries about Mauk's return.

He also announced that they will keep freshman Drew Lock as their starter after his great performance during the game's recent win.

"He did some good things. We feel like he can be a whole lot better. ... The more he plays, the more he's going to get it," said Pinkel of Lock.

The coach added that Lock still needs to improve on a lot of things but said that the team is excited with his development.

"Any quarterback earns trust. The situation in the game, you take that into consideration. You take into consideration the down and distance. You take into consideration the score," added Pinkel.

According to KY3, Lock made his debut last Saturday and became "the first freshman to start at quarterback for the Tigers since Corby Jones in 1995." He reportedly completed 21 of 28 passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns.

Last week, Missouri announced Mauk's suspension due to "disciplinary reasons related to a violation of team policies," as per CBS Sports.

The team said that the quarterback's status was evaluated after the game over the weekend.

With the absence of an explanation why Mauk was suspended, fans still wonder about his said violation of team policies, since he is also an effective player on the field.

Sports Illustrated said that during his two-season stay with the football team, he was able to complete 51.8 percent of his passes for 654 yards, 6 touchdowns and four interceptions.

A thread discussion on the issue, posted on Tiger Droppings, dished that the reason for Mauk's suspension is his use of illegal drugs.

"Kid on the team just said it was 'getting around' and the coaches found out and confronted him. Campus' are super small," revealed one individual on the thread, noting that Mauk is addicted to cocaine.

Mauk's suspension also came after another struggle for the quarterback, as his father recently underwent surgery for his colorectal cancer.
