Philadelphia 76ers forward Thaddeus Young recently denied reports suggesting that he formally asked the team to trade him before the NBA trade deadline.

LibertyBallers, citing an anonymous source, reported that Young formally submitted a trade request to the 76ers. According to the report, the 25-year-old forward wants to leave Philadelphia because he wants to be on a team that is committed to winning.

When asked about the reported trade request, Young laughed at the rumors that cited an unnamed source, while also adding that he is ready to play as hard as he can to help the 76ers win games this season.

"I just think it is funny that it is 'sources' that say I asked to be traded," Young said in a statement via CSN Philadelphia. "I am here; ready to give 110 percent each and every game. I am ready to just play and try to win basketball games."

Young admitted that his agent recently had a meeting with Sam Hinkie about their possible options in the future, including the trade rumors surrounding him, but he quickly insisted that there was no trade request submitted during the discussion.

"My agent has talked to [general manager Sam Hinkie] about different situations and options. I know there have been talks about me being traded and me having a lot of frustrations, but that comes with losing basketball games. People have to realize that when you are in a losing situation like we are now, we are going to get frustrated and everyone is going to tense up a little bit. That is what has been happening," Young said.

The former Georgia Tech standout is considered as one of the 76ers' best trade assets mainly because of the excellent year that he is having so far.

Young, who is averaging 16.2 points and 6.6 rebounds per game this season, was mentioned in the rumored talks between the 76ers and the Houston Rockets about a potential trade for Omer Asik before the Rockets eventually decided to call off trade talks involving their disgruntled center.

But while he is committed to playing as hard as he can in all of their upcoming games, Young said that he is also prepared to accept if the 76ers decide to trade him before the deadline.

"If they see fit to trade me I can't dwell on it," Young said. "I have to pack up my family and be ready to go. But today I am here, ready to go, 110 percent. You are going to get all the hustle I have each and every night. I am going to play for my teammates. That is the way I have been taught to play the game."
