'Harley Quinn' portrayed by Margot Robbie will have a more modern look in the upcoming anti-hero film "Suicide Squad" and her co-creator Paul Dini loves it.

According to Cinema Blend, the female counterpart of Batman's nemesis Joker would be deviating from her classic "Batman: The Animated Series" costume in favor of a more gritty and punk look that she now appears in the New 52.

This means that her fans who would be watching the "Suicide Squad" should not expect to see her wearing that tight jester costume.

This, says the "Batman: The Animated Series" writer and producer, is for a good cause, noting that going in this direction would make the character more realistic when compared with the classic Harley Quinn look.

"I know it's jarring to a lot of the people who love the classic Bruce Timm suit. I love it myself. But in that world [of the Suicide Squad movie], I just don't see it happening. It's a rougher, more street look. I think it works fine," Dinn explained in the Shanlian on Batman podcast.

Aside from that, the 58-year-old filmmaker also expressed his admiration for the actress portraying his brainchild, adding that he is looking forward to her interpretation of the twistedly cute character.

"I think Margot [Robbie] is very nice, she's a very wonderful actress, certainly very attractive and very talented. I'm very excited to see that interpretation of Harley," he said of the "The Wolf of Wall Street" star.

According to Comic Book, Harley Quinn co-creator Bruce Timm also expressed his opinion on the character's new look which he described to Polygon as "pretty cute," citing that he initially worried that the character would look "really, really bizarre and skanky."

"It's weird. Myself -- being somebody who's taken characters that pre-exist and putting my own spin on them in my own little universe -- I'm very aware of how when a character that I necessarily created shows up in other media that they have to adapt it and do different things with it than I would do. So I'm very open to it to see what they're going to do. I'm actually really excited," he added.

Meanwhile, Dinn further expressed his admiration for the entire image the makers of "Suicide Squad" has given what Comic Book described as a dysfunctional couple, even describing Jared Leto's Joker as a "decadent rock star."

"There's a little bit of Sid and Nancy to the Joker and Harley look, which I always felt would not be a bad look if they were in a live-action movie. If you put them in that realistic world I feel they would look like down-and-out rockers. They would look dangerous," he added.
