Extra-large smartphones are dominating the phone arena as two of the biggest mobile manufacturing companies introduce big versions of their flagship phones.

Microsoft and Apple have made it a point to release phones that would never fit a regular-sized pocket with the upcoming release of the Lumia 950 XL and iPhone 6S Plus.

Lumia 950 XL

First off is the Washington-based company's "Cityman" which, according to Evan Blass, would officially be called Lumia 950 XL.

"Confirmed: Cityman and Talkman will be branded Lumia 950, not 940," the smartphone update leaker Tweeted.

According to Windows Central, the 5.7-inch smartphone from Microsoft would not only be sporting a WQHD OLED display with 1440x2560 resolution, but it would also feature a particularly powerful rear snapper with a PureView 20MP image capturing capability further enhanced by a triple LED flash.

Under the hood, the new Lumia phablet would be run by the latest Windows 10 Mobile be and powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 Octa-core processor with 3GB of RAM.

In terms of design and material, the Lumia 950 XL would have a matte polycarbonate body in black or white and aluminum side buttons as well as a prominent functional embellishment of a 1mm silver ring inside the camera pod.

Its battery is rumored to be removable with capacity pegged at 3300 mAh and Qi wireless charging integration.

A report from Uber Gizmo revealed that both flagship phones from Microsoft would be released on October 19 though there has been no official announcement on that yet.

iPhone 6S Plus

A recent report from Independent UK revealed that the size of the iPhone 6S's big brother is rumored to have been subtly changed.

A photo which allegedly came from the Cupertino company's Taiwanese supplier shows a slightly larger iPhone 6S Plus internal Force Touch component and display, a change that is unexpected from an "s."

Traditionally, Apple only applies improvements to the internal hardware of their "s" iPhones, leaving the external design the same as that of its flagship counterpart.

A previous report from Independent UK shows the iPhone 6S Plus pegged at 5.5 inches in size with the Force Touch technology as its newest feature.

Aside from that, no major updates are expected internally through the outlet cited that it would definitely be 30 percent faster than its predecessor.

It would also be boasting a 12MP sensor in its rear snapper which can reportedly shoot 4K videos on demand.

What is interesting is that despite this improvement, another report from the outlet citing Chinese website cnBeta reveals that the new iPhone 6S Plus would have a lower battery capacity than its predecessor with only 2750 mAh.
