IPad users may consider switching brands as Samsung is already scheduled to release the new Galaxy Tab S2, a tablet that reportedly would "give the iPad a run for its money."

After compiling a continuous stream of rumors on the Galaxy Tab S2, Tech Radar was finally able to get word about its release.

According to an unnamed source cited by Tablet Monkeys, the Korean mobile giant's newest premium tablet would be unveiled on Monday, July 20, in London and all over the United Kingdom.

The report further revealed an image of the next generation Samsung Galaxy tablets, which have been dubbed as the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 with and 8-inch display and Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 which measures 9.7 inches diagonally.

Rumors cited by the report also revealed that the new Samsung tablet is just 5.4mm thick, powered by an octa-core Exynos 7420 processor in 64 bit, a 3GB RAM and would be run by Android 5.0.2 or a newer version.

The notable change from the initial 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch screens reported by Tech Radar may also contribute to lighter Galaxy Tab S2 tablets, with the 9.7 model at 407 grams and the 8.0 with just 260 grams.

Despite this, the tablets from the Korean company would have massive battery packs particularly a 5,870 mAh battery for the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 and 4,000 mAh for the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0.

Makers of the Galaxy Tab S2 also enhanced its display by throwing in a Super AMOLED display matched with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels and a 4:3 screen orientation similar to Apple's iPad Air 2.

Meanwhile, Sam Mobile, a website popular for its exclusive reports on Samsung products, revealed that the thin Galaxy Tab S2 would feature an enhanced suitability for reading digital content like e-books, webpages, newsfeeds and magazines.

The report also claimed that the new Samsung tablet would be maintaining the Galaxy Tab S's fingerprint sensor incorporated in the Home button.

As of most recent report of the Tablet Monkeys, the new Samsung tablets would cost around $399 and $499 for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 and 9.7, respectively.

While this new addition to the wide array of tablet choices in the market may seem to spark excitement, Tech Radar is still doubtful considering that "even Apple is struggling to sell tablets these days" since tablets have longer upgrade cycles.

Aside from that, the outlet also noted how larger smartphones are "squeezing" the market dry because it functions as both a mobile phone and a smallish portable tablet.

"If any Android slate can hit the right spot it's going to be the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2," Tech Radar added.
