Speculations claim that Apple is planning to release a new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro laptops next year.

Christian Today wrote that Apple's rumored laptops will compete directly against Microsoft's hybrid device, the Surface Pro 4, which is said to roll out alongside Windows 10 this month.

Listed below are the latest rumors and speculations about the next MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. We compared the two laptops with each other to highlight the devices' differences.

Specs

The next MacBook Air is said to come in at two sizes: a 13-inch variant and a 15-inch model, Christian Today wrote. Its most basic version is rumored to have 4 GB of RAM with 128 GB storage space. The mid-range model will feature 256 GB storage space with 4 GB of RAM, while its high-end variant is rumored to be powered with the Core i7 processor, 516 GB storage space, and 8 GB RAM.

Other rumored features in the MacBook Air include a reversible USB Type-C port, which will be compatible with Lightning and MagSafe features, the news outlet added.

Gotta Be Mobile claimed that the MacBook Pro 2016 will boast of a thinner design than its predecessors and an all-in-one USB-C port. For example, instead of "having the power port, two Thunderbolt ports, two USB ports, HDMI, and SD card slot and a headphone jack, Apple could slim it down to a couple of USB-C ports, a headphone jack, and maybe keep a Thunderbolt port for the power users," the news outlet wrote.

Just like the MacBook Air 2016, the upcoming MacBook Pro is expected to come with Apple's own OS X El Capitan, Christian Today noted.

In addition, Master Herald wrote that Apple is waiting for Intel to release its new Core M-based processor to incorporate it in the new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air.

Release Date

Christian Today speculated that the new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro will be announced as early as October 2015, with a March 2016 roll out schedule. Last year, the 2015 MacBook Air was also announced in October.

Inquisitr, on the other hand, wrote that this move could overwhelm Apple consumers, given that the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus will roll out in the market in September.

Price

There is no estimated price for the new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air yet. The MacBook Pro currently out in the market starts selling around $1500. The MacBook Air, on the other hand, has a starting price of $899.
