They're cute, they're yellow and they speak adorable gibberish.

Yes, they're minions, and although they're no match for "Jurassic World" hybrid dinosaur in terms of size and ferocity, the villain-serving little critters won the hearts of audiences at the UK box office with £11.5 million in opening sales, successfully ending the "Jurassic World" reign.

Not that the sci-fi dinosaur film didn't fare well. According to Digital Spy, "Jurassic World" still managed to sweep another £5.7 million last weekend, taking it's UK total to an impressive £48 million since its release.

The feat earned them title as the biggest debut weekend in the UK for an animated feature, as reported by The Guardian. The minions bested other animated films from powerhouse companies like "Toy Story 3" (£11.49m), "Shrek 2" (£10.61m), "Shrek the Third" (10.33m) and even "Despicble Me 2" (£9.9m).

So why do people have so much of the minions? There is very little that we know about them, except that they have awesome collaborative skills and they're particularly fond of bananas. Who are they and what do they really want? Here are some things we know about these adorable little creatures, as listed by the Huffington Post:

1. As the first trailer showed, they originated from the Cretaceous sea millions of years ago, and their crazy antics made them really bad at being the big, bad villains they aimed to be.

2. They are all voiced by the same persons: directors Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud, with Coffin voicing the three main characters Kevin, Stuart, and Bob.

3. Their language is sprinkled with a mix of different real languages, like Korean, Dutch and English, but plenty of times, they speak gibberish.

4. They're likely all male, at least based on their first name. However, it was not made clear whether they're asexual or genderqueer; however, it was made clear from the trailer that they are pretty self-conscious little critters.

5. They are quite possibly immortal, considering that Kevin, Stuart and Bob seemed to be present from the time they arrived millions of years ago, so it is likely that they can outlive the human race and go on to serve some form of alien species.

6. They have an exact shade of yellow, but in case you're wondering, despite the hundreds of them running around at any given time, they have only about 48 unique looks, which is probably why most of the time, we can't tell them apart.

7. 10,400 Minions have been seen at one time. The promotional poster for "Despicable Me 2" apparently showed that many of the adorable species, and according to the Minions wiki page, someone took the time to count.

8. They were supposed to be big and muscular, but who cares, their final vision are amazingly cute.

Catch the "Minions" movie in U.S. theaters on July 8.
