With the confirmed remake of "Final Fantasy 7" during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), fans are now excited on what the game will offer after 20 years when it was first released.

DigitalSpy explained that the upcoming game, whose trailer was released during the E3, is only a remake and not a "remaster."

Here are some of the things you need to know about this development in the game:

1. Remake will use new hardware

This will reportedly change the game by using new hardware which is currently utilized by high-end games today. The game is expected to have the same graphic style like "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children" and "Dissidia Final Fantasy" which was also clearly shown on the trailer at the E3.

"Even if we were only making the graphics prettier for a next-generation machine, I don't think it would exceed the original version. If that were the case, the original international version will be available on PlayStation 4, so you could just play that and be done," game director Tetsuya Nomura said.

2. Game will be "dark and gritty"

As for the debut trailer, the same report said that it suggests that the game remake will be "dark and gritty" but game developers said it will still maintain its "light-hearted" edge.

3. Possibility to be launched on PC and Xbox One

The release date of the remake is still unconfirmed, but Engadget said game developers announced the remake after announcing "Final Fantasy 7" was announced to come to the PS4.

"The PC port, honestly, wasn't really on my radar. I thought it was already on sale. Regardless, there's really no relation between the PC version and this remake. Why now? This week at E3 we announced several titles coming to the PS4: not only FFXV, Kingdom Hearts 3, and World of Final Fantasy, but [also] a new Star Ocean and more. Rather than announce the remake after those titles went on sale, we wanted to give gamers something that would make them happy -- open them up, perhaps, to buying into the PS4," explained Nomura in the Engadget report.

Kotaku added that there is also the possibility for the remake to be launched for PC and Xbox One though PlayStation third-party developer relations head Adam Boyes has yet to confirm these rumors.

"We'll be disclosing that to everyone before the game comes out, so everyone will know," Boyes said in the Kotaku report.

4. Changes will not be drastic

Nomura added in the Engadget report that there will be changes in the game but not that drastic like flipping the genders of the characters.

"But there will be changes. More than me, [Producer Yoshinori] Kitase and [scenario writer Kazushige] Nojima are more concerned about what gets changed. I'm not too worried about that. I'm often happy to cut out parts," he added.

5. Some features may be retained

A similar TechnoBuffalo report added that they may retain the "graphics, gameplay, accessibility" of the previous game, which was a total hit to its players.
