Tomb Raider was a solid game released in the early part of 2013, and now Square Enix has announced the game will be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition on Jan. 28, 2014 and will feature the main game and all the DLC released specially rebuilt for new next-gen consoles.

The game is available for pre-order through Amazon.com; the game will be available for $59.99 on both consoles. According to the game's listing, the game will have many extras available for fans:

"Own the complete Tomb Raider experience with all of the DLC, including the Tomb of the Lost Adventurer, six outfits for Lara, a digital mini art book, and the digital comic 'The Beginning.'"

Also included in the game is an art book that will reveal the creative process behind the critically-acclaimed game. The game's listing reveals that this version of Tomb Raider may become the version that really makes the game stand out among the upcoming crop of next-gen games coming in 2014:

"Live the critically acclaimed, cinematic action-adventure, re-built specifically for next gen consoles. Survive high-octane combat, customize Lara's weapons and gear, and overcome grueling environments to uncover the island's deadly secret. See Lara Croft like never before, with every bead of sweat, strand of hair, and article of clothing delivered in obsessive detail; Endure a stunningly re-imagined island, fraught with new, unforgiving storms, and alive with motion."

Executive producer Scott Amos spoke to IGN about the game and revealed just how much work Square Enix has put into the game's PlayStation 4 and Xbox One port:

"Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is so named as it's exactly what we've custom built for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 system consoles...The new hardware let us finally express the original vision in all of its glory. This was a continued labor of love. We pulled the game apart and rebuilt it with painstaking detail to add enhanced visual storytelling but without changing the award winning tale. The end result is a cinematic living world. We can't wait for fans and newcomers alike to experience this rebuilt epic adventure."

Tomb Raider managed to reboot the struggling franchise, and fans who missed out on the game should take advantage of the new version on the next-gen consoles much like NetherRealm Studios has done with their Ultimate Edition of Injustice: Gods Among Us.
