New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will grace the cover of the upcoming "Madden NFL 2016" following his victory over New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski in the voting process.

Madden NFL 16, according to GameSpot, will be launched on Aug. 25 for Xbox One and Playstation 4 and will also be available in last-generation consoles like the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

Attack of the Fanboy reported that "Madden NFL 2016" will come with new controls as its description reads: "Be the playmaker in Madden NFL 16 with all-new controls that allow you to dominate in the battle for air supremacy." The report described this as an interesting move for EA Sports especially with many players thinking that the game has gone stagnant.

With the recent announcement of the cover, fans will surely be more excited for the game's release in a few months.

GameSpot said Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson and Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown were eliminated from the list of finalists during the first round of voting. The voting for the last two NFL players standing was done on ESPN and started on May 13 at 9 in the morning and closed at 5 in the afternoon. The winner was revealed during the live edition of Sports Center held at 6 in the evening.

In comparing the two players, an NFL.com report said that Gronkowski has the Super Bowl title and the best tight end in the league while Beckham has this "wow" factor because of his skills and is likened to Randy Moss in terms of limitless ceiling.

The same report added that Beckham has "inspiring comparisons" to NBA legend Michael Jordan on the NFL website for the past months. "In a sea of wildly talented rookie receivers, Beckham stood apart because of his incredible hands, versatility and strength. Beckham can make defenders miss after the catch or he can run them over. He can take a hit over the middle or go deep," NFL.com added.

Going back to the 2014 NFL Draft, NFL.com said that Beckham has the potential to be the No. 1 overall pick because of his athleticism but his being a genius in football reportedly reflects on "his ability to set up defenders and run every route."

A similar Yahoo Sports article said that Beckham is definitely a celebrity right now especially with his amazing rookie season and his being voted to the "Madden" cover. However, the report wished that the player will not experience the so-called "curse" for previous athletes who made the cover and experienced bad luck later on like Peyton Hillis and Daunte Culpepper.

NJ explained that among the NFL stars whose play suffered after appearing in the "Madden" cover were Brett Favre who made a 9-7 finish after making an 8-3 start when he was featured on the "Madden" 2009 cover, Micki Vick (Madden 2004) who broke his leg during preseason and Hillis (Maddedn 2012) who missed six games in 2011.

However, it seems like Beckham can stride through this "curse" easily with determination and skill as he was named the "NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year" for the previous season due to his performance of achieving 91 passes, 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns. He is also well-known for his one-handed touchdown catch against the Dallas Cowboys.

It was added in the NJ report that the 22-year-old Beckham is also the youngest player and the first Giant to appear on the Madden cover.
