Samsung's recent attempt to upgrade many of its flagship phones to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean hasn't exactly gone as planned, with numerous serious technical issues, including battery drainage, popping up almost everywhere. Owners of the Sprint Galaxy S4 will be happy to know that a new update is rolling out that is sure to improve battery life.

The update, labeled MK2, is an incredibly small one, and contains only one fix, according to Sprint: it resolves sleep mode issues. Issues with a device's sleep mode can lead to battery drainage as the device keeps running on full power even when it's not supposed to. The MK2 update should help Sprint users who have been experiencing battery problems since upgrading to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

Samsung Galaxy S4s on all major U.S. carriers should have received Android 4.3 Jelly Bean by now. The upgrade, which doesn't bring too many new features to the table, is notable for the fact that it does contain Bluetooth 4.0 LE support, a requirement for full connectivity with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch.

There's no official word on when the Samsung Galaxy S4 will receive it's next major Android bump to Android 4.4 KitKat, although one unconfirmed rumor has it that January 2014 will be the date. It's unclear if Samsung will follow through on this, as the company has been known to lay off on Android upgrades until it releases a next-generation version in order to push sales of the newer handset. If that's the case, the Galaxy S5 is rumored for a March or April launch, and the Galaxy S4's Android 4.4 KitKat update might come after.
