Predecessor price cuts, looming processors and Windows 10 -- are we bound to see the new Surface Pro soon?

Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) seems to enjoy cutting prices off the Surface Pro 3 -- a move interpreted to signal the arrival of a sequel device. Following huge discount offers in February, the current-gen laplet is placed in another round of sale, ZDNet reported.

While the Surface Pro 3's base model will continue selling at $799, the company has trimmed $100 from the 128 GB tablet model (now $899) and $150 from the 256 GB (now $1,149) and 512 GB (now $1,799) versions. All models come with free sleeves.

Meanwhile, the alleged Microsoft Surface Pro 4 continues to make rounds in the internet grapevine. In a recent article, Digital Arts predicted that Microsoft will unveil an "updated" Surface Pro 3 "in the near future," while a "significantly redesigned" Surface Pro 4 comes out in autumn.

When stuffed with Intel's fifth-generation, 14-nm Broadwell chips, the Surface Pro 3 could be updated "cheaply," the outlet said.

However, with the Surface Pro 4, things are expected to be more different. Digital Arts wrote that Intel's Skylake chips require new motherboards, and this is seen as Microsoft's chance to develop "an entire new generation of Surface tablets."

According to The Motley Fool, rumors have it that Skylake launches on August, just in time for the expected arrival of Windows 10.

That being said, the Surface Pro 4 appears to be the first Windows 10 laplet packing Intel's redesigned Skylake chips -- not to mention the rest of its purported specs and features.

The Surface Pro 4 is touted to ship in two different sizes, TechRadar noted. These are 12- and 14-inch models, reportedly.

With such measurement, it may be difficult to deny that the laplet competes with yet another rumored device -- the iPad Pro (aka iPad Air Plus). Speculated to launch in the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), the tablet is believed to measure 12.9 inches, packing an A8X processor, 2 GB of RAM and Touch ID.

TechRadar is convinced that Microsoft could offer a 1 TB storage option for its next Surface Pro. The laplet allegedly starts at 64 GB, growing to 128 GB, 256 GB and 500 GB.

Another interesting rumor aimed at the Surface Pro 4 is the addition of LTE support, though details are scarce at present.

While Microsoft has not confirmed core information about its next Surface tablet, it's expected that all devices under Windows 10 will work in seamless harmony. That includes Lumia smartphones, Xbox systems and the PC, among others.

In terms of pricing, the Surface Pro 4 is thought to sell between $1,000 to $2,000, Realty Today noted.
