Before marrying model Camila Alves, Matthew McConaughey was romantically involved with a bunch of Hollywood A-list actresses such as Sandra Bullock, Patricia Arquette, Ashley Judd, and Renee Zellweger. In his book titled "Matthew McConaughey: The Biography" written by Neil Daniels, McConaughey opened up about one of his exes - Penelope Cruz.

The 45-year-old actor dated Cruz in 2005 while filming "Sahara."

"There's a bit of a language barrier, but it's like poetry when it happens," McConaughey said of his former flame, who is now married to actor Javier Bardem, as reported by Daily Mail. "What I really love about her is that she sees everything for the first time, every time. And she's one of the best listeners I've ever met."

Just as things started going smoothly for McConaughey and "The Counselor" actress, an equally stunning woman unexpectedly entered the actor's life. In 2006, while he was hanging out with former cyclist Lance Armstrong at the Hyde Lounge club on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, McConaughey saw Alves, and his romance with Cruz was cut abruptly.

"The first time I saw her walk across the room, I didn't say, 'Who is that?' I said, 'What is that?' The way she moved, I could see a person who knows who they are," the "Interstellar" actor said, as reported by the news outlet. "There's a person who spends time with herself, and is not advertising for this world, and is not asking permission. From that night I haven't been on a date with anyone else."

A year and a half went by before McConaughey and Alves dated exclusively. Things went smooth sailing between the couple since then. They had the first of their three children in 2008, became engaged in 2011, and tied the knot in June 2012 in a Catholic ceremony with a Benedictine monk presiding, the news outlet reported.

Alves, 33, came to Los Angeles from Brazil when she was just fifteen. Before being a successful model for prestigious brands such as Dior and Levi's, the brunette beauty cleaned houses and worked as a waitress. According to the model, her marriage with McConaughey means that their family should always stick together. When the actor travels to different locations for his films, he brings along his family with him in an Airstream.

"We all go together. One thing that we decided very early in the relationship is that when he goes, we all go - the whole family," Alves said, as quoted by Daily Mail. "We're like a traveling circus. But we're never in one place for too long. We're always on the go. We've been on the road for four years."

"Matthew McConaughey: The Biography" will be available in stores on April 1, Fox News Latino wrote.
