After losing to Denver on Wednesday night, Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Kevin Garnett slammed the Nuggets for firing coach Brian Shaw.

"To be honest. they quit on Brian Shaw. I thought, you know, they'd quit again. A quitter is a quitter. That was my take on that. But if you've got any kind of self-pride about your future, then you want to anticipate someone playing hard," Garnett was quoted by Yahoo Sports as saying.

He added that he was not really concerned on how the Nuggets would come out that night. He was "more concerned" on the attack of his team to make their play better.

"It's not going to happen overnight. It's not going to happen when someone wakes up and all of a sudden, voilà, a real light comes through the window. ... No excuses. We've got to come out and play with better energy and give our fans something to cheer about," Garnett was quoted by Sports Illustrated as saying.

The Shaw-less Nuggets took a 100-85 victory against the Wolves and improved to 2-0. Kenneth Faried was able to contribute 18 points and 14 rebounds for the team.

Meanwhile, ESPN said that Will Barton was able to score 17 points to outscore Minnesota 52-28 with interim coach Melvin Hunt leading the team.

"Coach Mel knows us. He's been around us a lot longer than coach Shaw has. Coach Mel was around when George Karl was here. When I first got drafted he was here. (Assistant coach Patrick) Mutumbo was here for us. They just know our game and our people, and basically how we play off each other," said Faried in the ESPN article.

The Nuggets reportedly played with urgency to beat the Wolves with the aggressive game they played on Wednesday night with 19 fast-break points compared to their opponent's zero.

"It's fun playing like that. I can't say that enough. Who wouldn't want to play that way? Sharing the basketball, teammate gets a basket, teammate gets a dunk. That's fun basketball," Hunt told ESPN.

Other players in the team also contributed to the victory of the Nuggets as Jameer Nelson gave 12 points and nine assists. On the other had, there was a smaller percentage of scoring coming from the Wolves with Ricky Rubio contributing 10 points only and Kevin Martin with 9.

It seemed like firing Shaw was a good decision for the Nuggets as a victory proved that the team can survive without him.

An earlier Yahoo Sports report said the coach was fired "following a disastrous 2-19 stretch of play" which already forced the players to chant during a game that they only have six weeks left for this current NBA season.
