Vladimir Nabokov's "Lolita" may be one of his best works, but reading the novel proved to be a bit disturbing for some.

Now imagine a sexy magazine like "V" putting a photo of a very young-looking girl on the cover, topless.

She may be 22 years old and already an adult, but in her V Magazine photoshoot, Selena Gomez looked like she was about twelve - with curls and a ribbon in her hair, albeit her top and most of her pantlegs are missing.

The singer posed for the magazine donning only a pair of booty shorts, an '80s style hoop earrings, and nothing else. Her hands cupped to hide her breast, and her face - which looked younger than her 22 years - staring into the camera with a sultry look.

According to the Daily Mail, the shoot has been called out to seem like Lolita, many believing it to be highly inappropriate as the magazine seem to have purposely made her look younger than she really is.

Most fans on Twitter seem to have the same reaction: the Lolita photoshoot is making everyone uncomfortable. One wrote, "Can't tell of that Selena Gomez V cover has Lolita written all over it or is it just because she has a baby face." Many others also share the same sentiment.

However, in the inside pages of the magazine, Entertainment Tonight noted that she opened up about depression. She revealed, "There were a few months where I was a little depressed, where I wouldn't leave [my home] as much. I think I drove myself crazy for a little bit. It was just easier to say, 'Hey, do you mind running to the grocery store and picking some stuff up? I don't want to get photographed.'"

She also talked about her first love, who, although she didn't mention by name, is presumably Justin Bieber, with whom her relationship has been very highly publicized. She shared, "I think the next time [I have a boyfriend] will be much different ... which will definitely not be anytime soon."

She also added, "That's a growing up kind of thing. I was 18 years old, and it was my first love. The older I get, I'm guarding certain things more. When you're young and you're being told so many different things ... it almost felt like all we had was each other, like the world was against us, in a way. It was really weird but it was incredible."

And she admits that she doesn't regret any of it. "I would never take it back in a million years. You live and you learn, you know?"

Well, hopefully she and her PR team also learned something from the disturbing Lolita shoot.
