Congratulations are in order for Chicago Bears backup quarterback Jimmy Clausen, who over the Valentine's weekend, married pro beach volleyball's Jess Gysin.

Stars of American football's premier league graced the occassion held in the city of Palm Desert in California, said TMZ Sports. Among them are Golden Tate and Jonathan Stewart, former teammates of the groom.

The two were tagged with a couple of other dapper men in a social media post, captioned: "I love all these guys!!!" Their Instagram handles are @showtimetate and @jonathanstewar1.

The latter even replied, "Love u jimmy c."

Judging from the newlyweds' Twitter accounts -- @JimmyClausen and @JessGysin -- the official hashtag was #JimmyAndJessSayYes.

"Best day of my life yesterday marrying my beautiful wife @jessgysin !! #JimmyAndJessSayYes," the groom said in an Instagram post. Before the ceremonies, Gysin was even able to joke that President Barack Obama landed in Palm Desert for their wedding. "So nice of @BarackObama to show up in Palm Desert for our wedding this weekend," she said on Instagram, snapping a photo of Air Force One on the tarmac. She was pretty active on social media following the ceremonies that she even had to promise that one photo would supposedly be her #LastPicForNow.

Based on another post on the photo-sharing site, she was quite happy with how the rites turned out.

"The most perfect day," she said in the caption. "Couldn't be happier to be married to my best friend@jimmyclausen."

The couple bagan dating in 2012, noted TMZ Sports.

Clausen and Gysin's career

Clausen was quarterback for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish from 2007 to 2009, noted the Palatine Patch. He enjoyed superstar status there, Heavy.com noted.

He entered the NFL in 2010 as a second-round pick, or 48th overall, for the Carolina Panthers.

But Heavy.com, in another article, reported that Clausen hasn't enjoyed much playtime since his rookie year. He has started just once this year for the Bears, it added.

On the other hand, Gysin reportedly earned her All-America status during her junior year in college back in 2008, after stacking up on accolades in high school. She played as an outside hitter for the University of South Carolina (USC) until 2009, finishing with 1,514.0 points, 1,313 kills 1,034 digs and 211 blocks, Heavy.com listed. In 2011, she shifted to beach volleyball and also garnered a couple of honors there.

Outside of her very fruitful career, the report added that she is a marketing practitioner with a Master's degree in Communication and Media Studies and a model.
