As part of Louis Van Gaal's summer acquisitions for the Manchester United, it has been recently reported that the team boss is gunning for Dutch footballer Memphis Depay.

It was indicated by a Metro report that the 20-year-old athlete and United "were linked" last summer when Depay was given the time to be with Van Gaal when he left his post as the Dutch national team manager and moved to Old Trafford.

According to Express, the Dutchman has a £10-m value and has been rumored to transfer not only to Manchester United but also to Tottenham. The report added that Manchester will be willing to bid this amount of money especially with Van Gaal determined to build a squad which can clinch a championship title.

Sources also revealed to Express that Depay and his camp are confident that they can ink a deal with Manchester for the footballer to become the newest player in the team very much hungry for a victory.

He will surely be a welcome addition as he scored 16 goals in his 21 appearances at the PSV Eindhoven this season.

Also called the "Dutch Cristiano Ronaldo," Depay is expected to become one of the frontrunners in Manchester once acquired.

There are reports, however, that the £10 million offer for him is still low considering his talents and his records on his previous games. In August last year, Depay signed a deal with PSV.

Aside from his brilliant statistics on the field, Depay's efficiency especially in defense is also very noteworthy, Bleacher Report noted.

Some analysts quoted by Bleacher Report also saw the footballer as a lead team player who can score goals despite his "increased responsibilities" on the field.

While there are many who believe in what Depay can contribute to United, there are still some people who doubt his capabilities because for them, he still needs to learn a lot of things in Netherlands, his home country.

National team coach Guud Hiddink said, as quoted by Bleacher Report, that the Dutch footballer still needs to be oriented with a lot of things in the sport.

"Depay is a talent but he still has much to learn. Robben is a good example. If Memphis wants to get far as him, he must first overcome setbacks," Hiddink added.

But no matter what people tell him, Depay will have to make this big decision in his life and career and a United offer is not bad at all especially for budding footballers like him. Bleacher Report also said that he could be a very good fit to forwards Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie.

This is also what Van Gaal is eyeing, a group full of talent that no other team can defeat for the next championship.
