Production for Warner Bros. and DC's "Aquaman" is still in the planning stage and as always, rumors about the upcoming movie abound. The film's director, the possible involvement of Karl Urban and Jason Mamoa's purported drastic hair color change are just some of them, IGN reported.

Aquaman debuted in More Fun Comics #73 in 1941 and is known by comic book fans all over the world for his many abilities, such as having telepathy, being able to control and communicate with marine life and his water adapted physiology. Occasionally sidelined by the supposedly more popular DC heroes, this time Aquaman is stepping out and making a name of his own with his upcoming film debut.

Warner Bros. is reportedly still looking at candidates who can helm the film. However, a source revealed to Latino-Review, that the new director could possibly be Noam Murro after the company was allegedly impressed with his take on "300: Rise of an Empire."

As for who will be joining Mamoa in the film, the Latino-Review's source added that it could be Urban, who has had good relations with WB due to their previous projects together. A Warner Bros. team is allegedly waiting for the actor to finish "Star Trek 3" before approaching him, and he might be playing the villain in the film or possibly an unspecified supporting role.

The source also shared that there were two scripts in the running for the film and both will allegedly require a hefty price budget-wise, in an aim to be a "world building spectacle" such as James Cameron's "Avatar."

These are all rumors though, and Warner Bros. has yet to comment on the matter, but fans are no doubt glad to hear that things are progressing steadily for the film.

As for Aquaman himself, Mamoa recently made news when he answered one of the most important questions about the film: If he was going to dye his hair blond.

During an interview at the Smart Works panel at Sundance, a 74-year-old woman who was a longtime fan of the hero, asked if the "Game of Thrones" actor is going to sport Aquaman's traditional blond locks, according to Cinema Blend.

Fans who are pushing for the blond look were probably saddened to hear Mamoa's reply.

"Well, just going off what you've seen so far ma'am, I don't think he is going to be blonde or white," he said. "I can't really tell you because I haven't shot it yet."

He added, "I hate to disappoint. But um, you know, I'm a little different than what those others - I hope you can watch it with an open heart."

Things may change, but it seemed Khal Drogo has spoken.

Mamoa as Aquaman will first be introduced in 2016's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" film, before starring in his own solo film in 2018.
