If you want something to remember the Year of the Goat by, maybe you should just go find an Air Jordan 29 "Year of the Goat."

It was just a matter of time before the Jordan Brand joined the sneaker bandwagon and unveiled its occasion marker of a colorway, said Kicks on Fire, reporting on the first look at the model, set to release on the 18th, or just a day before the Chinese New Year.

It's tradition, said Jumpman Kicks.

"The performance silhouette features a plethora of blues on the graphic upper that remind us of the water when you go deep sea diving (or at least what it looks like in movies)," Kicks on Fire commented on the eye-catching skin.

The upper "kind of looks like a painting you'd see in a museum," noted Sneaker Bar Detroit while Nike Blog said: "Let's just go ahead and brand it 'Best XX9 Colorway Yet' and work from there."

The model — with a playful mix of green, purple, turquoise and blue — is finished off by a blue translucent outsole, laces and inner lining in black, and a midsole inspired by elephant prints.

The outsole uses the Flight Plate technology, reported a Sneaker News piece that rates the option at 3.79 of a possible 5, based on 19 votes.

"There's no doubt that these are one of the most intriguing editions of the Air Jordan XX9 yet," it said. The color scheme is Water Project/Blue Force-White-Black. The style code is 727134-407.

In another report that rates the option better — 4.43, although using a fewer 7 votes — Sneaker News noted that the uniqueness lay in the knit construction of the shoe's skin.

"[It's] knit upper hasn't really seen its full potential realised in the print arena till now," explained Sneaker Freaker.

Sneaker News added that the piece was inspired by water, with the Jumpman logos noticeably treated like an afterthought — "getting stitched only on the heel for the first time and also making an appearance en lieu of the '23' PE on the tongue in a clean white," per the report.

The Jumpman logo was on the tongue and heel, instead of the usual ankle, explained Kicks on Fire. The white logo stands out in contrast to the one-piece upper, said Jumpman Kicks.

One big question was raised by Nike Blog, though. The waterworld choice for the upper is not in sync with this year's element — wood. Nevertheless, "...[S]tunning good looks are stunning good looks, right?", it added.

"Year of the Goat" will be at select Jordan Brand retailers, with a price tag of $250, per Sneaker Bar Detroit.
