AMC's zombie drama "The Walking Dead" is set to return in February and while fans are eagerly awaiting more news on the fate of Rick, Carl, Daryl and the others, a new trailer showed the gang running and fighting for their lives from forces unknown, Celeb Dirty Laundry reported.

The midseason finale of "The Walking Dead" left the group disheartened and in mourning after the deaths of Beth Greene and Bob Stookey, Eugene lying about Washington and losing their sanctuary at the church. No doubt they will have to find some way to move on and also find a new home for their weary bones.

The new trailer doesn't show much in the way of plot or potential villains. However, it does show that home sweet home is still a faraway concept as each member is shown fighting for his or her life, with Rick, Abraham and Maggie toting guns, Michonne with her katana, Daryl with his crossbow, Carol with a knife and more.

The trailer doesn't show exactly who the gang is forced to face off against, but if Rick's narration is any indication, it seemed they had no choice but to fight. He says, "Surviving. Surviving together is all that matters. It's all that matters."

Many fans are under the impression that the gang is still going to head to D.C. to find out what has become of the nation's capital. However, comic book fans in particular are well aware of the possibility of the gang heading for the Alexandria Safe-Zone to seek sanctuary, according to another report by Celeb Dirty Laundry

Not only that, but reports have appeared claiming that they will meet a new character named Aaron, who will take them to their new home. According to Entertainment Weekly, Aaron will be played by "Down and Dangerous" actor Ross Marquand, though AMC has yet to confirm the story.

Fans are aware that there is an Aaron in the comics who is responsible for recruiting people for Alexandria and it remains to be seen if the show will follow the comics' lead.

It doesn't help that the producers have commented that the midseason return is going to open up to a dark moment for the group, and will continue to be dark for some time, as noted on IGN.

With the new trailer though, it's not quite clear if the gang will be running to their new home or rather from it. After all, they don't seem to have the best track record with finding places to settle down.

"The Walking Dead" will return to television screens on Feb. 8 at 9/8c on AMC.
