Who knew that when Eminem was singing about cleaning out his closet years ago, he was admitting to a totally different thing?

Of course, this is just a joke. According to Financial Express, in the controversial film "The Interview," the 42-year-old rapper admitted that he's gay in his cameo stint as a celebrity in a TV show called "Skylark Tonight."

He said, "When I say things about gay people, or people think my lyrics are homophobic - it's because I'm gay."

Seth Rogen, who plays the producer for the show freaks out and lets the host, played by James Franco, ask the rapper to clarify his statement, to which Eminem replied, "I'm more shocked with people haven't figured it out now. I mean, it's kind of like I've been playing gay peek-a-boo." He even added, "I've pretty much just been leaving a breadcrumb trail of gayness."

In the real world, though, Huffington Post was quick to point out that Eminem has always been controversial, allegedly for being a homophobe, to which he argued that he hasn't used words like "f***ot" in a homophobic way. In 2010, he expressed his support for marriage equality.

MTV noted that this Eminem stint seems to be a good plot twist for the movie that recently came with plenty of controversies, from the Sony hack that forced the company into pulling the movie from release, to President Obama saying that the film company "made a mistake" when it initially decided to cancel the show's release.

Huffington Post reported that the Sony Hackers who called themselves "Guardians of Peace" are believed to have been working for North Korea as they threatened to unleash an attack similar to that of the 9/11 if "The Interview" is released, as the film shows a plot to kill North Korean leader, Kim Jong-Un.

Despite delays, "The Interview" is now showing in select theaters and online. The Star reported that the movie released in the U.S. with over a million dollars in ticket sales on it's opening day (Christmas).

Sony's President for Worldwide Distribution, Rory Bruer said in an email (as printed by The Star) "Considering the incredibly challenging circumstances, we are extremely grateful to the people all over the country who came out to experience The Interview on the first day of its unconventional release,"

According to Variety, piracy-tracking websites noted that the movie has already been downloaded by over 900,000 people as of the afternoon of December 25, but the film is also available to watch on Microsoft Xbox Video, Google Play, and even on Sony's official website.

Did you watch "The Interview"? What did you think of Eminem's "admission"?
