It might have been the wrong time to invite the media for practice, because the cameras were rolling when the Washington Wizards' receiver Andre Roberts and cornerback Bashaud Breeland engaged on Wednesday in a brief fistfight — and the footage can now be seen everywhere.

Breeland was then covering Roberts in one-on-one drills, For The Win said. The latter then dropped a deep pass and then tumbled to the ground. As both headed to the sideline, Roberts took his helmet off to confront Breeland, before throwing the first punch.

"Moments before the scuffle broke out, Breeland had been in tight coverage of Roberts on a deep pass from Colt McCoy. Roberts did not hold onto the ball, and both players tumbled to the turf," said CSN Washington's Tarik El-Bashir.

Brian McNally who covers the Redskins for 106.7 The Fan, in a tweet, explained: "Looked like Roberts/Breeland got tangled up during pass drill. Breeland got kneed in groin. Later words exchanged. 1st punch from Roberts."

According to the CSN Washington report, Breeland grabbed his groin area with both hands as he got up, adding that the rookie might really have gotten injured based on his behaviour just after standing up and taking a few steps.

After both threw their punches, Breeland tried to tackle Roberts, ESPN Go said. It was unclear if there was a history of conflict between the two.

Just to make sure that no one was going to be seriously injured, the report said, some teammates -- safety Ryan Clark, cornerback E.J. Biggers and receiver Ryan Grant, among others -- stepped in to break up the scuffle.

"Clark walked Roberts away, but then Roberts shoved him as well. Roberts and Breeland exchanged more words from about 10 yards apart," narrated ESPN Go.

When the practice resumed, the media were instructed to leave the practice bubble because the open period had ended, CSN Washington detailed. ESPN Go added that the practice was open for only 15 to 20 minutes and the incident happened near the end of the session.

Both parties initially declined to comment but Roberts announced on Twitter: "@Salute_me17 & I are brothers..brothers fight..I have respect for Bree..we will take this passion to the field Sunday #boysWILLBEboys #HTTR."

Team coach Jay Gruden spoke to ESPN Go on the matter, and was not too worried. He said, "You don't want fights at practice, but guys are a little frustrated and things happen when football players are competing."

"I like the competitive nature of guys competing at practice, one-on-ones. We had some good, competitive team drills today, but that was a rarity," he added.

According to For The Win, the Redskins are on a five-game losing streak, as they on Sunday face the New York Giants, to whom they lost 45-14 earlier.

It added that there seems to be unending drama in the team. Maybe, it is all because, borrowing Roberts' words, "#boysWILLBEboys."
