Hunter Hayes Performs 'I Want Crazy' At CMT Music Awards; Headlines CMT On Tour In October

Hunter Hayes knows how to keep his fans "crazy" and on their feet. The 21-year-old country singer sure got everyone "loco" when he performed at the 2013 CMT Music Awards last night. Promising his fans a little something, the swooner sang his newest single "I Want Crazy" to the bopping and screaming fans.

Hayes performed outside the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee where the awards ceremony was held. According to MTV, the singer was "hand-slapping" his fans on his way to the stage. And when he sang the first line of his song, fans knew that they were in for a "crazy" treat.

"As he sang the opening lines of 'I Want Crazy,' he jumped in front of Hayniacs in a tight-fitted white T-shirt and jeans, guitar-pick necklace dangling from his neck," reported the music news portal.

When the chorus hit, fans of Hayes were already jumping up and down, singing every lyric back to the young country singer. Fans wore heart-shaped sunglasses, while two H's flashed at he backdrop of the stage, reports MTV.

Just a day before his performance at the CMT, Hayes already had a chat with the Music Television channel. Without revealing too much prior to the big set, he told fans he has something up his sleeve for all of them, Hayniacs.

"It's great. This is a crazy week for us. This is a big performance. We're really stoked about this," Hunter tells MTV of his would be smash performance, during a rehearsal for the show. "We've been wanting to do this thing for a while, and finally getting the chance to do it is pretty awesome."

He also added that "I Want Crazy" was the "perfect song" to be played outdoors.

Hunter was nominated for both Male Video of the Year and Video of the Year. He lost the latter to Carrie Underwood for which he plays front act in her current tour.

The "Wanted" singer's new album, Encore, will be a deluxe version of his self-titled album released in 2011. The album will be hitting stores on June 18.

The star will also begin his own headlining tour with CMT. CMT on Tour: Hunter Hayes Let's Be Crazy tour will start on October 10 in Knoxville. The tour will be visiting 21 cities across the US, ending at The Midland by AMC in Kansas City, Mo. on December 6 and 7.
