The WWE earlier announced that they could not let CM Punk fight in the UFC against Chael Sonnen since WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon allegedly considers UFC as "barbaric."

In a podcast interview, Punk said that McMahon would not give him clearance to appear in UFC television.

"No, we can't do that. That's barbaric. Somebody is going to die. Then I had to remind him, 'I don't know if you remember Owen Hart or not, because he sort of died in your ring." This was what McMahon allegedly told Punk when he asked for permission for him to fight Sonnen.

According to MMA Fighting, Punk who was fired by WWE in June, was supposed to fight Sonnen this coming January in the former's hometown in Chicago but the WWE did not allow him to do it even if the UFC already agreed to his appearance.

"Tomorrow is the Royal Rumble so it'll get some last-minute buys and whether Chael wins or loses, no offense to Chael, nobody is going to be talking about him. They're going to be talking about the WWE champion walking him to the Octagon," he added in the MMA Fighting report.

Aside from reportedly saying that the UFC is "barbaric," Punk said that McMahon also criticized the UFC's women's bantamweight division with him not buying the idea of women fighting inside the Octagon.

"He (McMahon) was distancing himself from such a horrible, barbaric product. I reminded him how horrible and barbaric pro wrestling is," Punk added.

But the fighter has maintained his interest in fighting in the UFC since he is already an experienced fighter in combat sports with his years of fighting.

MMA Fighting noted that Punk is not planning to return to WWE or professional wrestling after he was fired.

With him out of the WWE, UFC president Dana White told TMZ that he would be really interested to discuss plans with Punk for his debut in the Octagon.

According to the same report, the UFC president "would be open to having a conversation with the 36-year-old about joining the organization."

"I don't know if he can fight or anything like that, but sure, I wouldn't mind talking to CM Punk," White added.

Aside from getting Punk for the UFC, White also said that he is ready to get back Brock Lesnar if he wants to get back in the MMA.

"If and when his deal is up with them and he wants to fight, I'm, sure he'll call me," the UFC president said.
