Tom Cruise was spotted at Piccadilly Circus in London while filming scenes for his upcoming action movie "Mission Impossible 5."

The 52-year-old actor, who will reprise his role as Ethan Hunt in the fifth installment of the franchise, caused a stir among London commuters during a chase scene at the tube station, Express reports. But he easily mingled with the pedestrians and passers-by as there were no road closures present in the set.

"The film could book a load of extras and close a street down but this way is much cheaper and natural," a source said, as quoted by Express.

"Tom shoving his way through thousands of commuters at rush hour will give a real effect of a chase scene. It will look brilliant on the big screen and the audience will feel like they really are running behind a secret agent," the insider added via the news outlet.

The actor appeared to be in high spirits while filming at the Piccadilly Circus. According to Mirror , Cruise even joked around with some paparazzi and handled one of the photographers' cameras.

Aside from Piccadilly Circus, the actor was also spotted filming a scene in a local record shop, Daily Mail reports. The site added that there were also scenes taken in locations across Austria, Morocco, and Monaco. Cruise reportedly filmed action stunts with the assistance of stunt co-ordinator Wade Eastwood.

Cast and Release Date

Cruise, who first starred in "Mission Impossible" in 1996, will be joined by supporting cast members Jeremy Renner, Alec Baldwin, Rebecca Ferguson, Ving Rhames, and Simon Pegg. The actor is producing the film alongside J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burke.

"Mission Impossible 5" is set to be released in theaters on December 25, 2015, Mirror reports. It hopes to surpass the $700 million box office earnings of its predecessor, 2011's "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol." The fourth installment is the highest-grossing movie of the franchise, Express notes.
