With Android's sweetest OS currently rolling out among select Nexus, Motorola and other devices, there hasn't been much talk when Samsung gets served. We previously covered speculation, citing that the Korean tech giant's Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S4 will definitely receive the update -- but when?

The first custom Lollipop firmware update has been made available for Samsung's last two S-line smartphones, wrote Phone Arena. The upgrade applies to Qualcomm's version of Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505) and among a number of S5 variants (SM-G900I, SM-G0900F and SM-G900M). XDA Developers are said to be behind the releases.

However, it must be noted that these are unofficial firmwares. The outlet reported that they are based on AOSP and alpha CyanogenMod 12 build, which potentially translate to bugs and other issues.

Here's the expected deal: Latinos Post cited in a recent report that Galaxy S5, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 are expected to get Lollipop in January next year. Galaxy Note 4 isn't out of the picture, as an earlier tweet from the company let out a howling uproar, "Anyway you look at it, the #GALAXYNote4 Quad HD Super AMOLED display is pretty sweet. #NoteTheDifference."

The tweet was accompanied by a picture that brought Note 4 and, well, lollipops together. That's a pretty obvious announcement.

In an earlier report, Christian Post also noted that Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S5 are scheduled to get Lollipop early next year. The source specifically mentioned that January or February expects the upgrade's arrival on Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note Edge, and the Galaxy Alpha; March or April may bring the new OS to Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note 3 Neo, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy Ace Style, Galaxy Grand Prime and Galaxy K Zoom.

There are little differences, but it's clear that much of the company's devices are predicted to get Lollipop at the dawn of 2015.

Yet there are also reports claiming that Samsung devices may get the update even earlier -- this year, actually. TechRadar cited SamMobile's note, revealing that Galaxy S5 could be in for a December upgrade. Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Alpha are queued.

SamMobile wrote in another report that Galaxy S4's Exynos variant (GT-I9500) should receive Lollipop first early next year.

Rumored to be "Project Zero," Samsung's Galaxy S6 is also a candidate Lollipop recipient.

Also known as Android L, Android 5.0 Lollipop is the latest OS powering an array of devices from smartphones to wearables to cars. But it hasn't been all perfect all along, having presented a number of problems to devices which have received the upgrade early on.
