The recent "Masamune 2.0" update has brought about crashes and glitches to some of the consoles.

According to The Sixth Axis (TSA), one specific problem is the console not turning on "after closing down in to rest mode." Rest mode is Sony's new name for Standby mode.

TSA quoted a couple of PS4 gamers who took their concern to NeoGaf:

"I can't turn my PS4 on after putting it in rest mode. Booooo," said taoofjord.

"I hit the PS button on the controller, controller turned on, not the system. Power button on the system is not responding. I get a beep when I try to eject the disc but no eject. Light on the top of PS4 is doing the blinky yellow thing," posted laughingmood.

Trusted Reviews reported that some users are experiencing the opposite -- with consoles "turning off without warning, resulting in game installations being corrupted."

Chris Owen, PlayStation community manager, "suggested rebuilding the PS4 database which seems to have worked for some people," stated TSA.

Owen has also responded to the issue on Twitter saying:

"We are aware of issues reported by some PS4 users following the release of 2.0, our engineers are investigating. Thanks for your patience."

A Sony rep also told Game Informer:

"We're aware of issues reported by some PS4 users following the release of PS4's latest system software update, v 2.00. We're investigating these issues and will provide an update once we have more information."

Those "who are having issues with their PS4 not turning back on from Rest Mode, to unplug the console from the power source. Then touch the power button to clear the system of any residual power. Finally, plug the PS4 back in for a full system reboot," advised Trusted Reviews.

According to GameSpot, Sony suggests that users boot in safe mode if they are having problems.

"If you are having trouble starting your PlayStation®4, Safe Mode allows you to start the PS4TM with the minimum required functionality. Once in Safe Mode, there several menu options that may help you correct issues and allow your PlayStation 4 to start normally," reads Sony's support page.

Users who have trouble with YouTube apps not responding during uploads will have to wait for further advice from Sony. The app supposedly "uploads gameplay highlights directly from the Sony console to YouTube by clicking the share button on the DualShock 4 controller," said Express UK.

GameSpot and TSA both note that the PS4-maker is also facing problems with the PlayStation Network. Owen has acknowledged the trouble in a tweet: "@CockneyCharmer @Serum_Lake Certain aspects of PSN are experiencing heavy traffic and errors, engineers looking into this."
