'The Hobbit 3: Battle of the Five Armies' Release Date, Cast & Trailer: New Poster Shows Film's Key Characters

The preparations for "The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies" is in full swing. Following the release of the official trailer and posters, Warner Brothers has released the official tapestry for the final installment of Peter Jackson's middle-earth film.

The striking new image is comprehensive in that it shows nearly all of the key characters in the film, including Martin Freeman's Bilbo Baggins and Ian McKellen's wizard, Gandalf. Additionally, you can also see Thorin Oakenshield, played by Richard Armitage, along with the other dwarves; Orlando Bloom's Legolas, Tauriel played by Evangeline Lilly and Thranduil brought to life by Lee Pace as well as Benedict Cumberbatch playing Smaug the dragon, noted Hero Complex.

The tapesty is a great piece of art work that stitches together the various scenes giving audiences details that will really walk you through the timeline of the story. It offers a dramatic look at the transition throughout the flick that will get audiences excited to see the poster come to life in the movie. 

The series is the adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Hobbit."

According to the website's official synopsis:

"The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" brings to an epic conclusion the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield and the Company of Dwarves. Having reclaimed their homeland from the Dragon Smaug, the Company has unwittingly unleashed a deadly force into the world. Enraged, Smaug rains his fiery wrath down upon the defenseless men, women and children of Lake-town.

Obsessed above all else with his reclaimed treasure, Thorin sacrifices friendship and honor to hoard it as Bilbo's frantic attempts to make him see reason drive the Hobbit towards a desperate and dangerous choice. But there are even greater dangers ahead. Unseen by any but the Wizard Gandalf, the great enemy Sauron has sent forth legions of Orcs in a stealth attack upon the Lonely Mountain.

As darkness converges on their escalating conflict, the races of Dwarves, Elves and Men must decide - unite or be destroyed. Bilbo finds himself fighting for his life and the lives of his friends in the epic Battle of the Five Armies, as the future of Middle-earth hangs in the balance."

As an added treat to fans, Digital Spy recalls director Jackson's announcement during "The Hobbit" panel at Comic-Con. It was revealed that there may be a six-film box set that will include all Tolkien films after the release of the final installment, "Battle of the Five Armies."
