'The View' Cast: Ex Host Jenny McCarthy Reveals the Truth Behind Departure

By Staff Reporter| Sep 17, 2014

Former "The View" host Jenny McCarthy has revealed the reason why she was booted from the talk show.

Speaking to Good Day NY via ET Online on why she was let go, along with Sherri Shepherd in June, the newlywed explained, "because they [ABC] wanted to make sure the table was diverse. So they consider when Rosie was coming back it was too liberal and they wanted a conservative and they wanted a Latina, so they got Rosie Perez and their Elisabeth if you will, so that way it was a balanced table with more diversity."

The complete line up were announced shortly after McCarthy was booted. Remaining host, Whoopi Goldberg, was the only one retained from the last season. TV Guide recalled how Rosie O'Donnell's return was officially revealed in July while both Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace soon followed in September.

Prior to leaving, McCarthy said, "It is true, let me tell you what's going on," quoted People. "I am so grateful to have worked with Barbara Walters in her last year along with many producers and co-hosts, but after much consideration, I have a new job that will allow me to do what I do best, which is talk without having to interrupt anyone."

"I will be announcing it in the next few weeks and couldn't have been more grateful for the fans who have supported me, so stay tuned even if it does compete with The View," quipped the actress-turned-host.

Now that she's bounced back from "The View," what does she think of the new cast?

"I didn't watch the show," she said flatly via NY Daily News. "I've been hearing mixed reviews."

The actress holds no ill feelings on what transpired and she's moved on. ET reported that the blonde beauty is going to be hosting her own radio show under SiriusXM Radio beginning next month.

The 41-year-old did confess that "she couldn't be as unfiltered as she normally is when she co-hosted 'The View'," noted Mediate.

Marital Bliss

McCarthy wed Donnie Wahlberg, 45, last month at the Hotel Baker in St. Charles near Chicago, a year after they officially revealed their relationship to the public.

The wedding was intimate with 90 of the pair's family and close friends. Speaking to Howard Stern prior to her nuptials, she confessed it wasn't going to be a star-studded event and shared she wasn't inviting all of her "The View" co-hosts.

"Sherri Shepherd will be the only one [celebrity invited] possibly if she can make it," McCarthy said. "I hate celebrities."
