By Staff Reporter| Jul 21, 2014

After the confirmed release of the Tizen Samsung Z last month, photos of the upcoming phone in gold has surfaced online.

Tizen Experts shared photos of the gold Samsung Z taken during the Tizen Developer Summit Russia 2014. Based on the pictures, the phone has a similar body in terms of size and shape to that of the original black device with the difference being the gold-toned backside as well as the gold home button.

In terms of specs and features, the site mentions "a 2.3 GHz quad core CPU, 2 GB RAM and with 16 or 32 GB onboard storage options, LTE capabilities as well 64 GB." Other specs include a back camera with an 8 MP capacity supported by a 2.1 MP front camera. It's fashioned with a 4.8-inch 1280 x 720 display and topped off with Tizen 2.2.1 and a 2,600 mAh battery.

Based on the specs, the device has got a lot going for it, especialy since it's the first smartphone to have a Tizen OS onboard.

Samsung earlier indicated that the device would launch during the third quarter but according to Phonedog.com, the phone may miss its target due to production delays. No indication as to a final release date for the Samsung Z in gold or otherwise has been officially confirmed.

While the phone is a high-end model, it's not top of the line or seen as a direct same-level alternative to the brand's flagship Galaxy series. 3G UK clarifies, "Don't mistake this for a Tizen alternative to the Samsung Galaxy S5, but it does inherit some of the Galaxy S5's features, including Samsung's S Health app, a fingerprint scanner, an Ultra Power Saving Mode and a download booster."

According to Samsung, Z offers a unique user experience with advanced web performance and usability. The device's Tizen platform delivers a fast, optimal performance with improved memory management.

DJ Lee, President and Head of Global Sales & Marketing Office, Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics  said, "Samsung is committed to enhancing the mobile experience of consumers with innovation that is both personal and unique to their needs. The Samsung Z integrates the power and adaptability of the Tizen platform, enabling users to browse the web faster and utilize applications more effectively."
