'The Conjuring' Spin off Release Date, Cast & Plot: Creepy Doll Back in 'Annabelle'

Are you a fan of horror films? If you are, then you're in for some good news! A spin-off of the highly scary movie, "The Conjuring" titled "Annabelle," will be released on October 3.

Aptly named after the haunted doll, the film will show just in time for Halloween and will go head-to-head against Ben Affleck's mystery, "Gone Girl" and Reese Witherspoon's "The Good Lie."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the spin-off will be handled mostly by the same production team as "The Conjuring." The notable names include director James Wan who will produce the film while cinematographer, John Leonetti, will be directing this time around based on Gary Dauberman's script.

Details about the storyline are still unknown but the spin-off's cast will not be the same as the original movie. Annabelle Wallis, Alfre Woodard, Brian Howe and Ward Horton will step in as the main stars.

Aside from the spin-off, "The Conjuring 2" sequel will be released on October 23, 2015, according to IMDB.

ScreenRant notes that "Annabelle," along with "The Conjuring 2," almost didn't happen due to a legal battle between Warner Bros and Evergreen Media Studios, which was handling the rights of real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren's works.

To refresh your memory, below is Rotten Tomatoes' summary of the film. You can also watch the movie's official trailer.

"Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. 'The Conjuring' tells the true story of Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga), world renowned paranormal investigators, who were called to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most horrifying case of their lives. -- (C) WB"
