On Wednesday, Vice President Joe Biden launched a new Instagram account with a selfie that instantly got the social media world buzzing.

In the photo, the VP and President Barack Obama are seen riding in a customized limo complete with armor plated, eight-inch-thick doors named "the beast" while in Pittsburgh to discuss expanding job-training programs. He captioned the photo, "Found a friend to join my first selfie on Instagram. Thanks for following and stay tuned. -VP." According to the New York Daily News, within 27 minutes, the photo already garnered over 3,600 "likes."

However, Biden is not the only public figure that has caused a stir after posting a selfie. Here's a list of five other buzzworthy celeb selfies.

Earlier this year, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres posted an epic selfie on Twitter with a round up of A-list actors while she was hosting the 2014 Academy Awards. Included in the photo is Jennifer Lawrence, Channing Tatum, Julia Roberts, Kevin Spacey, Brad Pitt, Lupita Nyong'o, Angelina Jolie, Bradley Cooper, Meryl Streep and Jared Leto. Unsurprisingly, the photo became the most-retweeted tweet of all time in less than an hour, garnering over 1.2 million retweets, reports Time.

In March, General Colin Powell was crowned as the king of the selfies for a day when he shared a picture on Facebook that he took of himself decades ago, before social media even existed. The former secretary of state posted the photo for "Throwback Thursday," a trend in which people post photos of their younger selves on social media networks.

"Throwback Thursday - I was doing selfies 60 years before you Facebook folks. Eat your heart out Ellen!" Gen. Powell wrote in the caption, according to ABC News.

Kim Kardashian posted the perfect eat-your-heart-out selfie on her Instagram account in October just four months after giving birth to her daughter North West. During this time, Kardashian was scrutinized for her pregnancy weight gain, however, she proved that even though she was a new mom, she is still the queen of sexy selfies. In response to the photo, her finance Kanye West showed his approval of the racy swimsuit photo by retweeting it and adding the caption "HEADING HOME NOW."

Although it's common for celebrities to constantly share selfies, it came as a surprise when Prince William stopped to snap a selfie with a 12-year-old girl. The 31-year-old Duke of Cambridge took a picture with Madison Lambe after she visited the Sandringham Estate on Christmas Day to watch the Royal family walk from their house to church. He even took the picture for the English schoolgirl who became too nervous to press the button on her mom's phone. According to the Daily Mail, Madison was originally hoping to pose with Queen Elizabeth II for a picture as the royal family walked to the annual holiday service at St. Mary Magdalene Church. However, she was pleasantly surprised when the future king took the time to grant her wish instead.

"I couldn't believe it when William came over to me and I asked for a picture," she said, according to the BBC News. "He just said to me, 'You can't beat a good selfie on Christmas Day,' and took the picture."

In October, Nicki Minaj shared a risque selfie of her Halloween costume as a police officer on Instagram. Dressed in electrical tape covering her nipples, fishnet tights, a thong, and thigh-high boots, it appeared however, that she was disguised as an underdressed officer rather than an undercover cop. She captioned the over-the-top pic with "Officer Minaj. Who wants to get cuffed?"
