Troubled actress Amanda Bynes has done a complete 180.

Not only is the 27-year-old "Hairspray" star showing great progression in her mental health, but she successfully completed her first quarter at FIDM's Orange County campus. "She's a great student who always participated and really cared about her classes," an inside source told E! News. "She really fit in and loves her school."

According to sources, the former child star is concentrating on her education at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising and plans to take more classes in April. "If she was offered an acting job anytime soon she may not take it because she's so focused on school," the source added. "Amanda's really talented at what she does so the picture is the real deal. She's only just beginning."

Earlier this month, the actress shared a tweet about her studies writing, "Hi everyone! I'm busy studying at @FIDM but I want to say I love you to my fans!"

Back in 2013, Bynes displayed months of bizarre and erratic behavior until she was finally committed to a psychiatric hospital over the summer. On July 22, she was placed on an involuntary hold after she set fire to a stranger's driveway, around the corner from her parents' home in California. She was rumored to have been diagnosed with schizophrenia and her parents were granted full conservatorship over her fortune.

Bynes received treatment for mental illness at UCLA's medical center before she was transferred to a mental rehabilitation facility in Malibu called The Canyon.

In December, the former Nickelodeon star was released into the care of her parents in Thousand Oaks, Calif. and appears to also be focused on her physical health and going to the gym.
