NFL Trade Rumors: San Francisco 49ers, New England Patriots Interested in Trading for DeSean Jackson

The Philadelphia Eagles are not actively shopping DeSean Jackson at this point of the offseason, but reports indicate that several teams have expressed interest in trading for the Eagles wide receiver.

CSN Philly reported on Tuesday that the Eagles are listening to offers for Jackson, and sources indicated that the San Francisco 49ers and the New England Patriots were among the teams that inquired about Jackson.

Jackson is coming off one of the best seasons of his NFL career, which makes him one of the most-sought-after players this offseason, but the Eagles are reportedly unwilling to strike a trade just for the sake of getting Jackson's salary off their books.

Sources indicated that the Eagles are asking for at least a third-round pick for Jackson, who has spent his entire six-year career with the Eagles.

Philadelphia's current asking price is lower than what they were looking for last year, when they shopped the 27-year-old wide receiver for a second-round pick.

"According to the source, the Eagles are seeking at least a third-round pick and potentially more for Jackson, whose career-best 1,332 yards last season ranked ninth among NFL receivers. Jackson also tied a career high with nine touchdowns and averaged 16.2 yards per reception, third-highest among wideouts with at least 80 receptions," CSN Philly noted.

Among the two teams who are allegedly making a push to acquire Jackson, the 49ers are deemed as the more ideal landing spot for the six-year veteran since the team is looking to speed up their passing game next season.

"The 49ers are an intriguing match, as they are desperate for a speed element in the passing game, and Jackson played collegiately in the Bay Area," NFL.com reported.

However, the 49ers are reportedly tight in their salary cap, and team executives are currently unwilling to give into the Eagles' asking price at this point.

Jackson is scheduled to earn $10.5 million next season, and several teams are reportedly unwilling to take a gamble on the former California standout, who had some serious issues with his team last year.

Jackson clashed with Eagles receiver coach Bob Bicknell after one of their defeats last season, and team executives were reportedly frustrated after Jackson lobbied for a new contract less than 48 hours after losing to the New Orleans Saints in the first round last season.
