Manny Pacquiao News: Pacman to Show No Mercy in Rematch With Timothy Bradley, Says Freddie Roach

By Paul John Rivera| Mar 19, 2014

Trainer Freddie Roach vowed that Timothy Bradley will face a different Manny Pacquiao in their upcoming rematch on April 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

In an interview with BoxingScene, Roach admitted that Pacquiao became too complacent during their first fight in June 2012, saying that the former pound-for-pound king took it easy after the sixth round.

But in their second showdown next month, Roach has guaranteed that Pacquiao will not commit the same mistake again. The Filipino boxing icon will go for the kill and show no mercy to Bradley, Roach said.

"Manny knows he is going to have to hunt Bradley down and close the show this time," Roach said. "The first fight with Bradley was so easy for Manny that after six rounds he just took it easy on him. Not this time. Our Mantra is 'Close the show. No mercy.' You don't have don't have to be a groundhog to know that Bradley's days as welterweight champ are numbered."

The Hall of Fame trainer said that Pacquiao has been training hard over the past several weeks. He admitted that Pacquiao struggled in the first few days of their Wild Card Gym training camp, but the former eight-division champion quickly got back on track.

"Manny started the week a little slow due to jetlag but finished off strong on Saturday. He was just brilliant in his sparring on Saturday. His footwork was effortless, his hand speed was blazing and his power is as good as it's ever been," Roach stressed.

Roach also took a swipe at Bradley, who recently said that Pacquiao has already lost his killer instinct based on his previous showdown with Brandon Rios in which Pacquiao took it easy instead of going for the knockout victory against his less-heralded opponent.

"For Bradley to say 'Manny doesn't have the hunger anymore and it's never coming back' and 'Manny no longer has his killer instinct,' that tells me that Bradley is still suffering from the concussion Provodnikov laid on him," said Roach referring to Bradley's brutal showdown with Ruslan Provodnikov in March last year.
