WWE Smackdown Spoilers, Results for Feb. 28, 2014: Batista Booed by WWE Universe as He Preps for Wrestlemania 30

By Ed Molina| Feb 26, 2014

Batista came out to the ring to address the WWE Universe, who have expressed nothing but disdain for him since he came back to the WWE after a long hiatus. Batista starts off reiterating that he loves the business and does not care about public opinion.

Batista wondered out loud "what happened to this business," lamenting the end of an era where men were men with attitude, promising the crowd he would destroy all their heroes in order to achieve his dream of taking the WWE World Heavyweight Championship away from Randy Orton. Dolph Ziggler came out to the ramp, reprimanding Batista for lashing out at the fans, calling him a dinosaur that needed to be put into extinction. Ziggler made his way into the ring and drop-kicked Batista before a match between Ziggler versus Batista was set up for later in the night.

The Real Americans, Jack Swagger and Cesaro, defeated Intercontinental Champion Big E and Mark Henry in tag team action despite having difficulty staying on the same page throughout the bout. Swagger prevented Cesaro from attaining the win earlier in the match when Cesaro went for a pin on Henry, while Cesaro tagged himself in after Swagger clamped a Patriot Lock on Henry only to have Cesaro finish the "World's Strongest Man" with a Neutralizer to score the pin.

Alberto Del Rio, still licking his wounds after his last two matches with Batista, was complaining to Smackdown general manager Vickie Guerrero he wanted the night off. Sheamus interrupted them, telling Guerrero he was looking for a fight. Guerrero appeases Sheamus' desire for a brawl and sets up a match between Del Rio against Sheamus for later in the night.

Sheamus came to the ring with his ribs taped up, a consequence of participating in the Elimination Chamber match on Sunday, and had the match against ADR very much in control. But Christian, who eliminated Sheamus from Elimination Chamber with a Frog Splash from the top of one of the pods, interfered in the match while doing commentary. Sheamus was attempting to make Del Rio tap out before Christian stepped into the ring, attacking the Irishman and giving Sheamus the win via disqualification. After the match, "the Celtic Warrior" hit Del Rio with the Brogue Kick before eating a Christian Killswitch to get laid out in the ring.

Batista was in action next, taking out his frustrations on Dolph Ziggler, who ate several Spinebusters and a Batista Bomb for the loss at the hands of "The Animal" as he continued to get cascaded with boos that got more intense throughout the match.

The Wyatts came out to the crowd to preach about "slaying the dragon" (John Cena) before The Shield came out to settle their differences with the clan. As The Shield stepped forward to make their move against the Wyatts, WWE COO Triple H came out and said he is tired of the feud, especially having invested so much money into all six competitors and that everything between the two factions will be settled on Monday Night Raw.

In a rematch from Elimination Chamber, WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee successfully defended her title against Cameron of the Funkadactyls. Unlike Sunday night, Tamina was ejected from ringside when she tried to help the champion. Even without her bodyguard, AJ managed to pull of the victory by forcing Cameron to tap out via the Black Widow.

In the main event, Daniel Bryan and The Usos took on Kane and the WWE Tag Team Champion New Age Outlaws in a Six-man tag team bout. Bryan helped out the Usos in their quest for another shot at the Outlaws' gold, hitting "Bad Ass" Billy Gun with a Flying Knee for the win, while the Usos took care of Kane to end the show.
