'Grey's Anatomy' Season 10 Spoilers: Jo Finds a Baby, Jimmy's Wife Debuts

By Jessica Michele Herring | Jan 27, 2014

While "Grey's Anatomy" fans will not find out about the fate of Jackson and April's relationship until the end of February, Sarah Drew, who plays April on the long-running drama, promises that fans will immediately find out who April chooses when the show returns.

"We pick up moments after where we left off, and we will know who April has chosen right off the bat," Sarah Drew told TVLine.

She also said tongues will be wagging about the major event for a long time. "No matter who she chose, people are going to be murmuring and gossiping about this forever," Drew said.

When the show resumes, Jo (Camilla Luddington) will be taking care of a baby that she finds in an unlikely place: the trash. Jo will discover a baby in a discarded box, and will become attached to the child.

"Stephanie and Jo are out in the back of the hospital by the dumpsters, which is the new cool intern hangout, and Stephanie accidentally kicks a box, and there's a baby in it," Camilla Luddington told TVLine. "And so we find this dumpster baby, which, of course, is very difficult for Jo because she has abandonment issues. And she is not on the case, and she really wants to be working on it."

But as for Alex and Jo considering kids, Luddington said that isn't likely to happen very soon. "Do you think Jo and Alex are ready for kids?" Luddington said with a laugh. "They're still trying to figure themselves out."

The second half of the 10th season will also see the debut of Alex's father Jimmy's (James Remar) estranged wife, played by "Victorious" alum Susan Chuang. She will be lured to Grey Sloan Memorial under false pretenses, and will not be too happy with her husband.

Paul James ("Greek") will also join the cast this season in a potentially recurring role. His character will come to hospital to assist with research. James has also appeared on "Torchwood: Miracle Day," "CSI: NY" and "Shameless."

It has also been confirmed that after the tenth season, the beloved inhabitants of Grey Sloan will return for at least another two years, if not more. Series stars Ellen Pomepo and Patrick Dempsey have closed new two-year deals with ABC to stay on the Shonda Rhimes drama through seasons 11 and 12.

There is no word as of yet on the future of series "originals" Justin Chambers, James Pickens. Jr., Chandra Wilson or Sara Ramirez, whose contracts will expire at the end of this season.

Rhimes said in August that contract negotiations will not happen at the 11th hour, as they did in 2012.

"I spoke to [ABC Studios] and asked really clearly that I know sooner rather than later," Rhimes shared. "Last time they kept me guessing up until almost the last minute, which was really stressful. This time I asked to know much sooner, so that we could plan for it."

The next episode of "Grey's Anatomy" airs Thursday, Feb. 27 at 9 p.m. on ABC.
