Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active model SGH-i537 on AT&T's network can finally fully connect with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch thanks to the recently-released Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the device.

The update, build number JSS15J.I537UCUBML2, began rolling out Tuesday, Jan. 14, and is only available for download via Wi-Fi due to the 721MB size of the firmware. As usual, AT&T suggests Galaxy S4 Active owners back up their data before upgrading.

Other than the usual security and performance enhancements that a new version of Android brings, the new update includes OpenGL ES 3.0 support and new Bluetooth technology that allows the Galaxy S4 Active to fully interact with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch. The AT&T changelog also reveals that users will be able to drag and drop apps in order to install or delete them after snagging Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. AT&T Signature Experience preloads like Kindle, Lookout, City ID, Password Keeper, Games and AT&T Mobile Protection are also included in the firmware.

While it hasn't been confirmed, expect the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active to receive Android 4.4 KitKat, the latest version of Android, at some point in the future.
