HTC One Update: Android 4.5 or Android 5.0 and Sense 6 At the Very Least, Says Insider

The HTC One's next big update is going to be Android 4.4.2 KitKat (along with Sense 5.5 for those in the United States), and according to one well-known HTC modder, there's going to be plenty more in the future for the device.

LlabTooFeR, a respected HTC-based developer, revealed that he expects the HTC One to receive one more major Android update, either to Android 4.5 or Android 5.0 (whichever one comes next), and Sense 6.

The HTC One currently runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and Sense 5.5 (in more international markets). The content of both Sense 6 and the next major Android version remains a mystery at this early stage in both of their development cycles.

This, of course, refers to normal HTC Ones, and not Google Play and developer editions.

HTC has not confirmed the matter, but given LlabTooFeR's track record, it's safe to say that Sense 6 and a new Android will land on the phone.

HTC One owners, even those with carrier-tied variants, in the United States can expect to start seeing Android 4.4.2 KitKat roll out near the end of January/beginning of February. HTC has repeatedly confirmed the date, as well as the fact that the update will include Sense 5.5, the latest version of HTC's user interface. HTC Ones in the United States did not receive Sense 5.5 alongside Android 4.3 like most international HTC Ones, although the tradeoff meant that U.S. HTC Ones were the first to get bumped to Android 4.3 from Android 4.2.
