'Star Wars: The Force Awakens': 5 Clues to Who Rey Might Actually Be [Spoilers]

By Ma. Elena| Dec 25, 2015

The real identity of Daisy Ridley's Rey is one of the most pressing concerns fans have been wondering about "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." As those who have seen the film know, the mystery behind the character wasn't unveiled, and it looks like the kind of thing which will be teased for a full trilogy.

This, however, didn't stop fans from speculating about Rey's identity. According to Cinema Blend, the moment between General Leia Organa and the new Jedi-in-training provided a lot of clues about the character -- that she was a Solo.

After the moment, viewers "begin to see a picture forming," along with "a couple of other pieces the film lays down in its jigsaw puzzle of mysterious parentage," Cinema Blend wrote. The image showcased the Solo family having another child they put away for safety.

Listed below are the other clues.

First Clue: Leia's Hug

Cinema Blend wrote that it's notable how General Leia sidestepped Chewbacca and hugged Rey first after Han Solo's untimely death. It was assumed that the first person Leia would comfort would have been his best friend, Chewbacca. However, just like the medal ceremony on Yavin-4, Leia bypassed Chewbacca and headed straight to Rey.

Second Clue: Force Sensitivity Appears Hereditary

As what was shown in the original trilogy, Luke Skywalker and Leia were both confirmed to be Force Sensitive, which means that they would eventually exhibit that mystical life-force that connects and guides everyone, the news outlet wrote. The two inherited their abilities from their father, while Kylo Ren got his from his mother. There are assumptions that Leia had twins -- just like her mother -- and Luke's likely been so invested with his education that he hasn't had time to find a partner.

Third Clue: Kylo Ren's Interest on Rey

Kylo seemed to take a special interest on Rey ever since she was spotted by the Stormtroopers reporting back from Jakku. Given that people on Jakku would be suspicious if Kylo shows his curiosity, Kylo might have suspected that someone from his life as Ben Solo was watching him. Also, Rey's light-sided abilities "may very well be the call to the light" that pulls Kylo back from the darkness he dwells in, Cinema Blend added.

Fourth Clue: The Jakku Has Rey for Safe Keeping

Theories suggest that just like Luke and Leia, Kylo and Rey had to be separated once Kylo got seduced to the Dark Side by Supreme Leader Snoke, Cinema Blend pointed out. In addition, Rey said that she's waiting for her family, leading viewers to believe that whoever left her decided to do it for her protection. She also came from the glorious Millennium Falcon, suggesting that whoever pulled off her transport possess high nobility, such as Leia.

Fifth Clue: 'The Force Awakens' Playset from Disney Infinity 3.0

Those who watched the half-hour-long gameplay of the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" from Disney Infinity would notice that around 20:30 in the footage, Kylo Ren appeared to have shout, "Face me, cousin!" to Rey, ComicBook.com reported.

This theory, however, puts Rey as the daughter of Luke, making her cousin to Kylo, who is revealed to be the son of Han Solo and Leia in "The Force Awakens," ComicBook.com noted.
