Golden Globes 2016 Nominees: Here Are the Latino Artists Nominated for Awards

The nominations for the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards were unveiled on Thursday morning. The awards show, which will take place on Jan. 10, 2016, will honor the films, TV shows, and artists that have made a mark this year.

Ricky Gervais will return as the event's host after a three-year absence. Denzel Washington, a Golden Globe winner for his work in "The Hurricane" and "Glory," will be given the Cecil B. Demille Award for career achievement, the award-giving body's official site announced.

Best Director

Alejandro González Iñárritu is nominated for Best Director for his work in "The Revenant," which headlines Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy. The Mexican filmmaker will compete against Todd Haynes for "Carol," Tom McCarthy for "Spotlight," George Miller for "Mad Max: Fury Road," and Ridley Scott for "The Martian."

Best Actress in a TV Series, Comedy

Gina Rodriguez is nominated once again for her starring role in CW's "Jane the Virgin" for the Best Actress in a TV Series, Comedy category. The Puerto Rican actress will vie for the title alongside Julia Louis-Dreyfus ("Veep"), Rachel Bloom ("Crazy Ex Girlfriend"), Jamie Lee Curtis ("Scream Queens"), and Lily Tomlin ("Grace and Frankie").

Best Actor in a TV Series, Comedy

Mexican actor Gael García Bernal is up for Best Actor in a TV Series, Comedy for his performance as Rodrigo De Souza in Amazon's "Mozart in the Jungle." Also nominated in the category are Aziz Ansari of "Master of None," Rob Lowe of "The Grinder," Patrick Stewart of "Blunt Talk," and Jeffrey Tambor of "Transparent."

Best Actor, TV Series, Drama

Wagner Moura's performance as Pablo Escobar in Netflix's "Narcos" has gained him a nomination for Best Actor in a TV Series, Drama category. Jon Hamm ("Mad Men"), Rami Malek ("Mr. Robot"), Bob Odenkirk ("Better Call Saul"), and Liev Schreiber ("Ray Donovan") are also competing.

Best Actor in a Limited-Series or TV Movie

Oscar Isaac's role as American politician Nick Wasicsko in HBO's "Show Me a Hero" placed him alongside Idris Elba ("Luther"), David Oyelowo ("Nightingale"), Mark Rylance ("Wolf Hall"), and Patrick Wilson ("Fargo") in the Best Actor in a Limited-Series or TV Movie category.

Best Foreign Language Film

Chilean drama film "The Club," which was directed, co-produced, and co-written by Pablo Larraín, is nominated for Best Foreign Language Film. The movie tells the story of four middle-to-old aged priests whose lives change upon the arrival of a mysterious new priest and a raving traveler, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
