Alien Isolation News: Game Info Appears on Xbox.com But No Release Date

Even though Alien: Colonial Marines was one of the biggest flops of 2013, many fans have high hopes for the mysterious Alien: Isolation, the game being developed by Creative Assembly and published by Sega. The game was originally announced in 2011, but since then the creative teams involved have remained quiet. That is, until some of the game's information was leaked online recently.

The leak originally appeared on the Xbox Marketplace and was first spotted by All Games Beta. The original listing promised that players would be able to play Alien: Isolation with up to four other players in co-op mode. However, the game's listing, which can still be viewed on the Xbox Marketplace, gives no mention of co-op or any other multiplayer component for the game. This may indicate that these features were listed by mistake, or that Sega is not quite ready to announce that these game modes will be included in the final version of the game. The revamped game listing, however, added several screenshots of the game for fans to look over, including one of the infamous Aliens from the film series.

The game's listing confirms several details about the game, including that players will be able to use Amanda, the daughter of the Alien franchise's heroine Ellen Ripley:

"Discover the true meaning of fear in Alien: Isolation, a survival horror set in an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger. Fifteen years after the events of AlienTM, Ellen Ripley's daughter, Amanda enters a desperate battle for survival, on a mission to unravel the truth behind her mother's disappearance. As Amanda, you will navigate through an increasingly volatile world as you find yourself confronted on all sides by a panicked, desperate population and an unpredictable, ruthless Alien. Underpowered and underprepared, you must scavenge resources, improvise solutions and use your wits, not just to succeed in your mission, but to simply stay alive."

Alien: Isolation has the potential of finally giving video game fans the chance to experience what it is like fighting the terrifying creatures from the franchise in a high-quality game. Previously, the film series was the basis for the utterly terrible Alien: Colonial Marines, which suffered from ridiculously stupid A.I. from both allies and enemies and was one of the worst games of 2013. Aliens: Isolation is made by a completely different studio and has a different premise, so chances are the game will be much better than Aliens: Colonial Marines whenever it is released.
