Capcom is joining forces with Machinima for a new live-action "Street Fighter" miniseries titled "Street Fighter: Resurrection."

The series, which is scheduled to air in March 2016 on Verizon's go90 app, will have five episodes and will follow the story of Charlie Nash, a character that mysteriously came back from the dead in the new game, according to a report from GameSpot.

Capcom and Machinima previously worked on "Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist," which garnered 17 million views during its run, GameSpot wrote. "Resurrection" will serve as a tie-in with "Street Fighter V."

The miniseries' story is set ten years after the events of "Assassin's Fist" and features majority of the same cast, GameSpot added. Mike Moh and Christian Howard are reprising their roles as Ryu and Ken, respectively, while Alan Moussi will portray Nash. Mousi's Nash is targeting renowned "Street Fighter" champions for unidentified reasons and Ryu and Ken are intent on finding out why, Variety wrote.

"Street Fighter: Resurrection" is made up of the team behind "Assassin's Fist" producers, Jacqueline Quella and Mark Wooding, and director and writer, Joey Ansah, Comicbook.com listed.

"Street Fighter V" will debut on PS4 and PC on Feb. 16, Variety noted. "Street Fighter: Resurrection" follows closely behind with its March release date.

'Street Fighter V' Details

Yoshinori Ono, producer of "Street Fighter V," has said that one of Capcom's goals was to make it easy for newcomers to get into the game's rhythm by "lower[ing] the bar for entry as much as humanly possible," GameSpot added. He also revealed in an interview that "Street Fighter V," the upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive, will bridge the gap between expert and novice.

"One way we did that is to take care of it on the system level. What we wanted to do was eliminate the gap between really, really strong players and new players as much as possible. We wanted to make it so that almost everything you learned in the previous title got thrown out the window-at least as much as humanly possible. In doing so, we ended up narrowing the gap between really strong players and new players. It's a very small gap now," Ono explained, as quoted in a PlayStation LifeStyle report.

The third beta test for "Street Fighter" is expected to be released in mid-December. The latest vertical slice will include Ranked Match, Casual Match, Training, Capcom Fighters Network (CFN), Battle Setting, and Options, the news outlet listed.
