Sony Xperia S, Xperia ion, Xperia M Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update Releases in Form of Unofficial CM 11 Mods

Despite there being no official Android 4.4 KitKat update in sight for the Sony Xperia S, Xperia ion, and Xperia M, owners of these devices will be pleased to know that unofficial CyanogenMod 11 ROMS for the three devices have been released, bringing KitKat to the scene.

The three unofficial CyanogenMod 11 ports (based off Android 4.4.2 KitKat) were all released by developers outside of the CyanogenMod team, so bear in mind this is an unofficial port of an unofficial firmware.

As RaymanFX, the developer of the Xperia S CyanogenMod 11 port, eloquently warns, "I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead pets, thermonuclear war, or the current economic crisis caused by you following these directions. YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point your finger at me for messing up your device, We will laugh at you. Loud and hard."

It's always best to leave your device alone if you haven't had experience flashing Android devices, but it's also important to remember that the Xperia S and Xperia ion run Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and will not receive any future major updates.

Interested parties can download the Xperia S CyanogenMod 11 port here, the Xperia ion port here, and the Xperia M port here.

According to XperiaBlog, the Xperia S and Xperia ion builds are fairly stable but still contain some bugs. The Xperia S port contains no stereo sound, a broken FM radio, and a broken headphone jack. The Xperia ion port, meanwhile, has a problem with the LED notification light not working during charging.
