AT&T HTC One X Update Release Date: January for Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and Sense 5

HTC One X owners around the world received Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean in 2013, but there's still no sight of the update on AT&T's network with 2014 kicking off. Luckily for AT&T HTC One X and One X+ owners, HTC has confirmed that the upgrade will release sometime during January.

The confirmation comes via executive director of product management at HTC Mo Versi on Twitter.

According to Versi, the update is currently still under development and still has to go through the carrier approval process. AT&T isn't as notorious as Verizon for dragging this process out, but expect the carrier to try and squeeze in some new bloatware. Still, given Versi's confidence, and the fact that January is still young, there's a good chance that AT&T will be able to push out the upgrade during the first month of the year.

This isn't the first time that HTC has mentioned that the One X will get Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. HTC USA confirmed late last year that Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and Sense 5 would release for the One X in 2014, although no exact release date was given at the time.

Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean is by no means the latest version of Android (that would be Android 4.4 KitKat) but it will still bring security and performance enhancements to the table. Users will notice Sense 5, however, which features the BlinkFeed content aggregation system and Video Highlights.

The HTC One X in the United States will not receive any major updates after Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and Sense 5 is released.
